What are acceptable forms of ID for voting?
There are six(6) forms of ID that are acceptable for voting in the State of Georgia:
  1. Georgia's Drivers License
  2. Valid ID issued by any State of Federal Government with photo
  3. Valid U.S. Passport
  4. Valid Government Employee Photo ID
  5. Valid U.S. Military ID card with photo
  6. Valid Tribal ID card with photo
Please note that these are different than the forms previously accepted. Photo ID is now required to vote in the State of Georgia.

How do I know if I am registered to vote?

How do I register to vote online?
You may print the registration on this website and mail it to the addess on this website or go to: https://secure.sos.state.ga.us/VoterApp/ Please remember this important part: If you are submitting this form by mail and you are registering for the first time in the State of Georgia, enclose a copy of one of the following with you application:

Current Valid Photo ID
Current Utility Bill
Bank Statement
Government Check
Payroll Check
Any other government issued documents that show your valid name and address
Those who are entitled to vote by absentee ballot under the Uniform and Oversees Citizens Abenstee Voting Act are exempt from this requirement.
What do I do if I have moved?
Requirements vary as to whether you are moving out of State, out of the County or to another area of the County.

Out of State:
We cannot transfer your voter registration information out of the State of Georgia, you will have to contact the Registrar in the State to which you are moving. You will also need to contact the Board of Elections office to terminate your registration in Georgia.

Out of the County:
You can print the registration application on this website or contact your new or old County Registrar to ask for a change of address form. This form may be mailed or you can pick one up at any County Registrar's Office.

Relocating within the County:

How can I get an absentee ballot?

How do I qualify to run for public office?
The Board of Elections Office has a book with the qualifications for different county offices. You maycome in to the Board of Elections Office located in the Whitfield County Courthouse and get a copy or call (706) 278-7183 for information .  Qualifications for State Elected Offices should be on Secretary of State website, Election Division.
Where can I find candidate qualifying fees?
The county governing authority (Board of Commissioners) sets this fee and publishes it in newspaper by February 1st of the election year, or call the Board of Elections Office at (706) 278-7183
